Course Director – Paul

Paul set up The Dive Academy in 2005 and after 12 years as a PADI Instructor became a PADI Course Director in 2014.

Before becoming a Course Director himself he assisted on many IDC Programs, working with and learning from some of Thailand’s most experienced Course Directors. During your Instructor Course and after, Paul is available and willing to advise or help with any problems you have to help you become the best PADI Instructor you can be. He has been involved in teaching many of Koh Samui’s current instructors, whether it be their Divemaster course or their IDC.

As well as his vast experience and professionalism Paul also brings his great sense of fun to The Dive Academy’s Instructor training so not only will you leave your IDC thoroughly prepared for the IE and the fantastic adventures that await new Instructors you will have a great time along the way.

Unlike most Course Directors, Paul is still an active instructor and has taught the latest PADI Open Water Course many times. This means he can advise you from his own, personal experience about how to best organise and conduct the course as well as teach from hands on experience about using the different forms of theory learning available using the latest PADI Digital Products. You will learn a lot from a Course Director that has found out for himself the best ways to teach the confined and open water skills and who has actually taught an Open Water Course using e-Learning or Open Water Touch.

In 2012 Paul received recognition from PADI for being a PADI Pro for 10 years and he is more than willing to share his experience and knowledge with new Instructors wanting to know and learn the right way to do things once they have finished the IDC and IE.

Master Instructor – Claire

Having completed her Divemaster Course and then her Instructor Course, both with The Dive Academy where she is now joint-owner, Claire wanted to continue her training and share her passion even further by helping people become new PADI Pro’s so she became an IDC Staff Instructor and subsequently a Master Instructor.

Claire’s experience and knowledge at dealing with the day to day problems faced by Divemasters and Instructors and her willingness and ability to pass that knowledge onto others brings invaluable benefit to students doing their Pro training at The Dive Academy.

As well as being involved in our IDC’s, Claire is also in charge of PADI Divemaster training at The Dive Academy which means our Go Pro Students have consistent training and are fully prepared to work as a DM or move onto the IDC immediately if that’s what they decide. There are many Instructors around the island trained by us but we do get first pick of the best ones to work for The Dive Academy once they’ve finished the IDC.

In 2013, 2014 and 2015 Claire received an Elite Instructor Award from PADI as an indication of a high level of experience and quality.
